Animal husbandry

Our farm has approximately 45 Pinzgauer cattle, 18 – 20 of which are dairy cows, one bull, and the rest young calves. The Pinzgauer is a rare breed of beautiful auburn or luscious chestnut-coloured cattle originating from the local Pinzgau Valley. For centuries, this famous breed has been a popular choice of livestock for farmers in the rugged mountains of Austria and Bavaria, in particular due to their ability to thrive in extreme alpine terrain and harsh climatic conditions. The Pinzgauer’s natural habitat is the Alps, and these beautiful animals are reared on our farm as a matter of tradition.
